BIO

Hi, I'm Merzie, a singer/songwriter/musician/engineer/producer in Denver CO. My music is acoustic and electric guitar indie rock. It ranges from hard rock, to folk-ish, to punk influenced. I just released my latest single "Out Of Your Head" which is a post punk homage to the punk bands I listened to as a kid. Many say it sounds like a blend of The Pixies and Sonic Youth. My other previous releases include my latest release “Forecast: Downpour” and "On My Way" and "As I Am" and a cover of "I Need My Girl" by The National.
I'm a music junkie who grew up listening to Elvis, The Beatles, New York Dolls, Velvet Underground, The Stooges, Led Zeppelin, Dolly Parton, Johnny Cash and others at the age of 5 (yes, five years old). Eventually progressing to the “1st Wave” in the early 80’s and pop-ish music until the age of 17 where discovery of 97X “the Future of Rock and Roll” led to an eventual almost complete immersion into college radio/modern rock and indie music. Yeah, there was still the G ‘n R, Grunge, and short-lived “mainstream alternative” phase there for a while as well. These days I have newer influences ranging from LCD Soundsystem, Metric, Modest Mouse, The National, St Vincent and more. My love of indie music drives the passion for creating my music. Most of what I create now revolves around acoustic and rock guitar shaped by all of those influences of the past and present.
I release my music on my self-founded micro record label, QuasiParticle Records, LLC.
